Executive Chef Markus Kühni

Valentina Cucina e Bar will be guided by a career professional in culinary who has had a myriad experiences with hospitality brands such as IHG, Shangri-La, Dusit Thani, Banyan Tree, Marriott and Kempinski Hotels during his time spent in the Middle East, China, Bali (Indonesia); and now Kuala Lumpur, with an enhanced menu and already seasoned kitchen team.

Chef Markus currently spends his time between the Swiss-Italian border right to the heart of Switzerland, as well as traversing the skies of China and Bali, Indonesia where he is owner-partner of the much talked about Swiss Chalet Bar & Grill, Ubud.

Speaking French, Italian, German and English the multi lingual talented Chef will impart his skills and knowledge to the Malaysian team whilst preserving the already authentic offerings of Valentina. Having served Presidents and Heads of State alike while heading the culinary team of Yanqi Lake Kempinski (Hosts of the then 2014 APEC Meeting) it was here that Chef Markus was enticed towards ASEAN and thus his love for Bali, Indonesia began!

While it has always been short stays between destinations, Chef Markus is set to spend more of his time in the humble kitchen of Valentina along with his assistant Chef Dominic Gossens & Senior Chef de Partie Aizzaq Mehan to further enhance the already growing interest of diners craving authentic Italian cuisine.

While his days of serving as the “Royal Chef” for the former Queen of Thailand are long gone, the experience coupled with his passion and exquisite taste that can only come from a good exposure of Swiss and Italian cuisine will bring a new chapter to Valentina! Full-blood Wagyu ribeye, served with truffle-infused porcini mix mushrooms, air bag potatoes, velvety garlic confit, finished with truffle Pecorino butter & beef au jus

Taglioni al Nero di Seppia

Squid ink tagliolini cooked with asparagus, clams, mussels, and squid, finished with marinara sauce, topped with anchovy crumbs and grilled prawns.

Tiramisu Semifreddo

Savoiardi and coffee ganache in Mascarpone semifreddo coated with cocoa glaze, served with coffee tuiles and chocolate soil.
